The American Medical Women’s Association applauds the Supreme Court decision of June 28, which affirms the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act of 2010. Since 1990, AMWA has been advocating for Universal access to healthcare as a human right and a Women’s Health issue.

Many elements of the Act will serve to improve women’s health and will eliminate some of the current policies which deny care to women based on domestic violence or previous Cesarean section as a pre-existing condition.

This law is a very strong first step toward those goals.
