Dear AMWA Readers,
The American Medical Women’s Association works to advance women in medicine and improve the health of all individuals. AMWA believes mentoring and networking events are a crucial part of this process. Our biggest mentoring and networking event of the year will take place in Miami, Florida on April 13-15, 2012. You can register on our website now!
We want to give you $150 to support your next AMWA Networking and/or Mentoring Event! The event can be any AMWA sponsored event that promotes networking and mentoring among medical students, residents, physicians and allied health professionals. AMWA branches recently held “Wine & Cheese” socials and “Muffins with Mentors” breakfast meetings to discuss exam preparation and study skills.

Contest Rules
We are holding a contest to see which AMWA branch has the most people on our Facebook Page and the reward is $150 to use towards your next AMWA networking and mentoring event. To win $150 for your next AMWA networking and mentoring event follow the steps below….
Step 1: Invite as many people as possible to “Like” our Facebook Page by sending them the following link https://www.facebook.com/pages/American-Medical-Womens-Association/85665171482.
We welcome anyone to our facebook page that has an interest in the American Medical Women’s Association! They do not have to be AMWA Members. We have included a sample invitation for you to use below or you can create your own.
Step 2: Ask them to let you know when they “like” the page and add their name to your entry form for the contest. You may also include people who have already liked our facebook page. We are interested in cumulative totals not just new likes.
Step 3: On your entry form include the following:
Name of AMWA Branch:
Name of Contact Person:
Email of Contact Person:
Total Number of “Likes” on Facebook:
List of Names associated with the “Likes”
Step 4: On March 15, 2012, Send your entry form to amwadoctors@gmail.com. AMWA will check the names on the entry list with the people who have “liked” our facebook page.
Step 5: By April 1, 2012, AMWA will announce the winning AMWA branch on our facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/American-Medical-Womens-Association/85665171482
Step 6: By May 15, 2012, the winning AMWA Branch will hold their mentoring and networking event.
Step 7: By June 1, 2012, the winning AMWA branch will write a brief summary and provide photographs of the event to amwadoctors@gmail.com to be shared with the AMWA community.
Sample Letter
To make getting started easier, we have drafted a sample letter for you. You are welcome to cut and paste this letter to your email or facebook accounts and send it to as many people as possible.
Dear Colleague,
I am writing to request your help in winning a contest. The American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) is a multi-specialty organization which functions at the local, national, and international level to advance women in medicine and improve the health of all individuals. We achieve this by providing and developing leadership, advocacy, education, expertise, mentoring, and through building strategic alliances. As a member of the American Medical Women’s Association our AMWA branch is eligible to enter a contest to win support for our next networking and mentoring event.
The competition is to see which branch can recruit the most “Likes” for the AMWA Facebook Page.
