Student Opportunity: Medical Blogger Position for Kaplan

February 28, 2012

Dear AMWA Medical Students

Kaplan is currently working on creating a Kaplan Medical blog specifically for US medical students. The concept for the blog is basically to follow the lives of current medical students in their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year of medical school and have them post about a variety of topics like the ones below:
  • Classes (What subjects they’re currently discussing in classes, difficulty level, tips/strategies on remembering difficult concepts, anything upcoming M1/M2/M3/M4 students should know, etc)
  • Rotations (What are rotations like? what to expect on your first day, every day? any interesting stories, etc)
  • Studying for the USMLE (How are they studying? what resources are they using? what have they found effective? etc)
  • Post-USMLE (How did they do on the exam? How did actual test day compare to what they expected? etc)
  • Match application (What is the process? Tips on personal statement, LoRs, etc. Did you match, which programs, where…?)
The blog is by no means limited to the above topics.  Kaplan needs bloggers, and they thought who better to ask than their student-run partners.

Some items to note about being a blogger:
  • Frequency of posts will be at least 4-8x a month (once or twice per week)
  • Compensation will be provided depending on the # and quality of posts
  • Posts must be within a specific # range to encourage quality and thoughtfulness
Exact details will be discussed with individuals who are interested in participating.

The deadline to contact diana.stanley@kaplan.com is  Friday, March 2nd.

Thank you so much!
