Sharing the Wonder of a Heart Beating: Meet AMWA Global Health Fellow, Savitha Bonthala

March 16, 2012

Dear AMWA Readers:
AMWA Carter Fellow, Savitha Bonthala, recently traveled to the Engeye Health Clinic in Uganda.  The Global Health Fellowship is one of the medical opportunities AMWA provides its members.  The Engeye Health Clinic in Uganda is part of AMWA’s American Women’s Hospital Service (AWHS) Program.  In the picture above, Savitha Bonthala is with Sadat, an Engeye Scholar, at Sydney Paul Primary School sharing the wonder of a heart beating on Valentine’s Day 2012.  Savitha and Nisha Viswanathan, also an AMWA Carter Fellow, visited all the schools where our scholars are enrolled (as well as other nearby schools) to present a video on malaria and malaria prevention.  The video was made employing local residents and presented in Luganda.  A Q&A; in English followed.  Savitha and Nisha will provide us more photos over the next few weeks.  Check back for more to learn more about their adventure in Uganda!
