| Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine AMWA Networking & Mentoring Event |
Dear AMWA Readers,
The American Medical Women’s Association recently held a Facebook contest that rewarded the winners with a cash award to use for their next networking and mentoring event. The Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine AMWA branch won the contest and shared a summary of their event below. Contest rules can be found here and a new contest will begin this month so check back to our Facebook page so your AMWA branch can enter and win cash for your next networking and mentoring event!
The Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine chapter of AMWA was proud to host the Second Annual Mentoring Event/Social Mixer on April 27th, 2012. Dr. Carolyn Runowicz (the Executive Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine) kindly hosted the event at her beautiful home on Fisher Island in Miami, FL. We invited our AMWA members to celebrate our accomplishments as an organization and to meet and network with local physicians and professors associated with FIU. We were also privileged to have Dr. Farzanna Haffizulla, the current president of the South Florida AMWA chapter, and Dr. Diana Galindo, a former national AMWA president at our event. This was a great opportunity for our members to find strong, female mentors and foster relationships that may last a lifetime. It was a wonderful experience for our members and affiliates and we look forward to hosting another successful social celebration of women in medicine next year.
Thank you for supporting our chapter of AMWA,
Elizabeth Spiwak
