Marissa Orenstein

Student Division President-Elect

Marissa Orenstein is currently a third year student at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine with career interests in Pediatrics and preventative medicine. As a graduate of the University of Miami with majors in Neuroscience and Spanish, she is extremely proud to be on the road to becoming a "Double 'Cane"! Locally, Marissa serves as the Co-Director of the UM Department of Community Service (DOCS) program which serves to provide free health services to local underserved communities through 9 annual health fairs and 2 weekly clinics. She also represents her school as an OSR Representative to the AAMC and serves as the Class of 2014 Representative to Student Government.

Marissa became involved in AMWA as a first year student participating in the National Conference in Washington, DC. Inspired by the amazing student and physician leaders she met, she went on to serve AMWA as an assistant to the student conference planning committee in addition to serving her local chapter as Vice President. Marissa is very passionate about mentorship in every aspect of life and is proud to be part of AMWA as it provides such incredible opportunities for women to become leaders in medicine.

Re-energized from the stand-alone AMWA meeting and with the new role of President-Elect, Marissa hopes to help AMWA fulfill this mission by expanding the opportunities for student members to network and become involved in the organization on the local and national level - in doing such, helping AMWA to grow as an organization.
